Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player won his first title for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging year, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - resulted in him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Victory also means the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to win a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in dedication of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and frequent reactions on court had caused some to question if his skill to perform at the top level was finished.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, attempting for his initial tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 early-game break points in a close deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a rally at the net area, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
